Next week, Zeffin Quinn Hollis will record the role of Ivan Brislov during a workshop of ARKHIPOV, a new chamber opera by Peter Knell and Stephanie Fleischmann.
ARKHIPOV tells the story of Vasili Arkhipov, the chief of staff of four Russian submarines sent to Cuba to build a base to support Russia's addition of nuclear missiles to the island. The submarines were not stable, however, and this event - later to become known as the Cuban Missile Crisis - averted a worldwide nuclear disaster due to Arkhipov's logical reasoning and ability to resolve conflict amongst his peers.
Ivan Brislov was the medic on Arkhipov's submarine, B-59.
The project is fiscally sponsored by Fulcrum Arts.
