MEZZO TV Opera Competition: Szeged, Hungary
January 29-31, 2008The competition's preliminary round was in November. The jury selected the best competitors for the semi-final round based exclusively on vocal capabilities and musicality. The preliminary round took place at the partner opera houses in: New York (USA) Bremen (Germany) Szeged (Hungary) Rennes (France) Gdansk (Poland) The semi-final round will be on January 29-31, 2008 The second round takes place in Szeged, Hungary, the location of the festival. Here the directors of the productions will select the final cast of every production from the 5 competitors of each role who got into the second round. This is followed by the full-scale mounting of the productions in the partner opera houses; under the guidance of the director and the conductor, the competitors prepare in the rehearsals to be ready give the best performances of their lives in the finals.
